Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has been reporting for more than 45 years focused on people suffering from the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry has reported from the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry was an American journalist, reporter for the TV news as well as host. She is most known as a correspondent for the Today program which is a morning-time broadcast news program aired on NBC. Curry was noted especially for her work on reporting humanitarian crises in war-torn countries as well as on natural disasters. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father was an US Navy Sargent. Her parents met while her father was stationed in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. As a result of her father's active military duty, the family travelled often. Curry finished her high schooling in Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was the first female news reporter at the station, when she aged 22. In Portland in Oregon, she was named anchor and reporter by KGW NBC's affiliate. After four years, she was hired as a reporter by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. There were two Emmy Awards were won during her time with TV station KCBS.
